City Chevrolet Weekly Winners, Rundown

June 21, 22nd SECA drivers seen action at Cherokee Speedway and Laurens Speedway and Harris Speedway.

With City Chevrolet representative Chris Knight on hand, the SECA crates produced a very good turnout. Anthony Sanders started the night by setting fast time during time trials. Once the feature rolled out, the front row of Sanders and Trent Ivey wasted no time getting down to business. They battled for the top spot side by side for two laps before Ivey was able to inch ahead in the middle of turn one. Sanders would eventually see his night come to an end with a flat tire, as he tried to clear the track, cars began to stack up behind him collecting four cars including City Chevrolet Weekly Championship contender Michael Brown, Jonathan Duvall, Greg Clark. After two more cautions, the field was chasing Ivey but on a restart, something in the engine of Ivey’s 88 and Donald Bradsher went high and Adam Yarbrough went low and they raced three wide through turn 1. Bradsher made the sudden move pay off and went on to collect his first SECA win of 2013 and possibly getting the Cherokee Speedway monkey off his back. Ivey settled for 2nd with Yarbrough finishing 3rd.

Harris Speedway seen hometown favorite Furman Parton set fast time, over Trent Ivey and Joey Phillips. Once the Green Flag waved it was Parton to the lead with Ivey looking under the 6p machine each lap. This is when the number 6, Scraps for Us Barry Wright chassis driven by Travis Knight made a run up to the top two cars and made it a three way race. Just after halfway Parton experienced mechanical issues and retired from the event. Once out front Ivey was able to maintain a two car length lead of 2nd place finisher Travis Knight.

Laurens Speedway also seen a new winner in that of Greg Pilgrim, driver of the Pilgrims Logging #28. In his lone visit to the “Darlington of Dirt” Pilgrim and Bullard battled early through the event with Bullard searching different lines trying to get around the 28. As the race went on it appeared the 28 got in a groove and never looked back as he was able to hold off the Laurens veterans Terry Bullard and Mac Owens in the closing laps.
