Ivey Owns The Labor Day Weekend

City Chevrolet Weekly Points Championship gets tighter:

Heading into the Labor Day Weekend there were several teams trying to hit the 15 race requirement for the City Chevrolet Weekly Points Championship. Union S.C driver Trent Ivey wasted no time trying to show he belongs up top as he scored a win at Laurens County Speedway on Saturday during the SECA bonus points race.

Just a mere 24 hours later Ivey was once again standing in victory lane, this time it was at Cherokee Speedway during the Hall Of Fame event. On Monday Ivey was able to secure a 3rd place finish at Harris Speedway and remain at the top of the SECA City Chevrolet Weekly Championship standings.

Here is the kicker, Furman Parton was able to pull within 3 points of Ivey, and the top 6 drivers are now separated by ONLY 23 points with 3 weekends of racing remaining.

“This is exactly what we wanted to see happen with the points, more drivers close at the end of the year with a legitimate shot to win. It does not get much better than that, and I do not recall in the recent past any championship being this close , with this many drivers. To each of those teams, I wish them all the very best of luck and we wish they all could win it, as they have all been fighting tooth and nail all season. However at the end of the day, there can only be one champion, who ever is sitting at the top after the last event will no doubt be very deserving.” Stated Timmy Mcabee SECA co-owner.
