Furman Parton Takes Inaugural $7,500 SECA City Chevrolet Weekly Championship

Entering the final weekend, Parton held only a two point lead in the City Chevrolet Weekly Points standings. He knew what he needed to do in order to secure the championship. Parton set the 6P Parton Lumber, Lazer chassis to the top of the grid after time trials, and backed that lap up by winning the first heat. Starting from the pole of the main event, Parton was able to lead every lap and go on to his 11th win on SECA weekly competition, thus securing the SECA City Chevrolet Weekly Championship.

“It was a long hard fought battle, we started a little late and was behind early, and I was unsure we even had a legit shot, but it all worked out for us. Trent and Adam are both worthy racers, and I know their teams worked just as hard for this, but we appeared to have more luck than those guys. We only had one mechanical failure this year, and a lot of things just went our way. I hate what happened to Trent in the last race, we never want to see another competitor in a dangerous spot, I just wished we could have raced for it at the end there.” Said an emotional Parton after winning the title.

Trent Ivey, who also had a great season, but came up short as his night ended on the opposite end of the spectrum. Coming off turn four, after a late restart Trent moved to the outside, and got into the outside wall, his #88 Ivey’s Construction machine slowly rolled over and came to a stop on the roof just below the flag stand. “ I was going for it. I am not sure what happened there, hopefully I can watch the video and figure this out. I think we can get her put back together and keep racing this year, but right now, I owe all my crew a fishing trip.” Stated the young driver from Union S.C

Adam Yarbrough out of Denver N.C finishes out the season with a 3rd place finish in the SECA City Chevrolet Weekly standings. With 7 wins during SECA competition, Adam found himself on the outside looking in entering the last weekend. With a 4th place finish to end the season on Friday, Adam was able to secure that 3rd spot in the standings. “ We just needed a few more races, and I think we could have been right there with those two. My mom, dad and my entire family are what makes this team click, they give their all for us to come out here and be competitive, so I have to thank them for their support, and our time will come in the near future” commented Yarbrough.

SECA would like to say thanks to all the track promoters for believing in what we had to offer this season, and helping us get it done. Without your hard work each and every week to get the tracks ready, these guys can’t race. (Scott Childress ,Marion Limbaugh,Tammy Mullis, Steve Mason, Dennis Nabors,Nolan Nabors, and Lennie Buff, Ronnie Buff)

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU goes to Chris Knight and City Chevrolet, not only for their support of SECA, but their support for crate racing in general. There may not be anyone else that supports the racers like Chris and City Chevrolet, without that team, there is not doubt the crate industry would not be anywhere near as strong as it is today. Racers need to keep this in mind when looking at those payouts and winnings, when they need to upgrade or replace parts. That’s what they are here for, to help the racers.

Hoosier Racing Tire has been in this deal since day one, and we can’t thank them enough for providing very durable tire compounds that helped make the overall racing better in 2013, than in the recent years of crate racing. Those guys are always a phone call away, and make themselves available any time the need is there, and we want to thank them for their support.

We look forward to continuing and growing our relationships with all of our sponsors, and look to add more for the 2014 campaign to help the continued growth of SECA

Drivers and teams please go and double check the entire points spreadsheet, the sheet is posted at . If there are any discrepancies, please contact SECA, we want to be sure everyone is given their full points.
